Blue Dragon Mudskipper
Boleophthalmus boddarti

Size: 5”
pH: 7.5-8.0
Tank size: 45G/1 small group
Country of origin: Indonesia, India
Diet: Live and frozen foods
Temperament: Territorial, best kept in a species-only tank
Temperature: 75-80° F
sg: 1.005-1.015

Description

Finishing off month two is a very interesting goby known as Boleophthalmus boddarti. Boleophthalmus boddarti, like all mudskippers, requires a roughly equal amount of both land and water space. These fish exhibit fascinating hierarchical and territorial behavior, and are best kept in groups. This species in particular seems to spend more time underwater, compared to many other mudskippers.

Also, it's snowing at the moment. Not sure why it was 60-70 degrees all December, but started to snow the day everything was supposed to be going back to normal. The weather here is so inconsistent.

Same thing here, a little more up north. All December was 40-60 based on the day, and now it’s snowing…
I stopped trying to understand the weather long ago…

I always thought mudskippers were cool seeing them in the aquarium. Maybe I’ll get some one day, ideally a species that is more tame though.

Tank size: 125G/Individual
Country of origin: India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Pakistan, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines
Diet: Live and frozen foods
Temperament: Relatively peaceful, though predatory
Temperature: 75-80° F
sg: 1.005-1.020

Description

And so begins month three. Polynemus paradiseus, despite its general obscurity in the west, is a very important fish to the economies of India and Myanmar. However, this is not due to use as an aquarium fish, but rather as a food fish. Outside of Asia, this species is rare not only as an aquarium fish, but also as a food fish. Their meat can really only be found at certain Asian markets and restaurants. They are noted to have a sweet, mild flavor.

Its hot here. Super hot.

Bumblebee Grouper
Epinephelus lanceolatus

Size: 8’
pH: 7.0-8.0
Tank size: 10000G/Individual
Country of origin: Perhaps the most widespread grouper in the world, occurring throughout large portions of the Indo-Pacific
Diet: Most live, frozen, and prepared foods of an appropriate size will suffice
Temperament: Aggressive, may tolerate similarly-sized and slightly smaller fish
Temperature: 75-80° F
sg: 1.010-1.025

Description

Ending week nine, also known as brackish week, is one of the largest fish, no less brackish fish in the trade. Epinephelus lanceolatus is a unique grouper due to the fact that they often live in brackish water, and even enter freshwater from time to time. Much like the aforementioned Atlantic tarpon, this fish is absolutely ridiculous for any average fishkeeper. A rare leucistic version is available here.
