I've been searching to figure out if winemilleri will eat cardinals. I've found some older threads that indicate that some geo like altrons will actively hunt and eat tetras while others will not but i can't find anything specific about winemilleri.

Yes, if large 8 - 12” surinamensis-type Geos are hungry and they can catch it, they’ll eat it. You’d be better off with larger, deeper-bodied stuff that’s active.

So is seriouslyfish incorrect that they will not eat any fish larger than 2 mm ?

contrary to many of the responses you will receive on this forum, there are very few hard, fast rules for keeping freshwater fish. your mileage may vary

Of course there are always exceptions but i'm hopeful someone who have actually kept winemilleri might have some first hand experience on the matter.

I’ve kept them but I do NOT keep cichlids with tetras with this body shape. I only keep them with taller bodies tetras like stated by ryansmith83 ryansmith83 . Something like black skirts or Columbian red/blue

I bought 50 cardinals to compliment my geo sveni one time. And the next morning there was only a few left.

Yea i found another thread where someone said something similar. Maybe it was you but it was back from 2010. Ok. How small can the tetra be - to be safe? Is there a schooling tetra like rummy that is larger - i know serpae and white fin rosy don't really school

Deep-bodied (round) tetras like Buenos Aires, Colombian, Diamond, Congo (though not continent-correct, if that matters).

Then you have the potential issue of larger tetras nipping the fin extensions off the winemilleri’s dorsal and anal fins. I had long-fin serpae tetras and Hy511/candycane tetras with my sveni and the sveni never grew trailers.
