Flowerhorn won’t stop flashing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Something else just came to me. If adding the CO2 increased flashing, and adding plants (which eat CO2) reduced it, it may be too much CO2 in the water, which has negative effects on other species too: https://www.plantedtank.net/threads/roseline-sharks-dying.146437/

I would add back the plants (to eat the CO2) plus a powerhead or 2 (to increase agitation which dissipates CO2 into the air and adds oxygen into the water).
The issue I had with live plants and a flowerhorn is that he’d rip bits of the leaves and roots and it would clog the filters and leave decaying plant matter in the tank which always made a mess. This brings me back to having house plants in my filters. Would having the roots submerged be beneficial to eat co2 and other things. Also In the morning I’ll add my powerhead to the tank.

Tbh I don't know whether or not land plants eat CO2 in a fish tank. I'll leave the answer to someone who does know.

Good luck.

Went to add my powerhead and to a big surprise the impeller is missing. I added my bubbler to the middle of the tank at max power to try to compensate but I’m worried he’s gonna harm himself while he’s throwing it around like a tether ball

Isn’t this like the 3rd thread I’ve seen on the exact same topic of flashing lol
