These Kinds Of Fish Keeper's Ruin The Aquarium Hobby,

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm only familiar with you tube, i never go on the others, but the same applies to all these platforms if you're going to post pictures/videos up for the masses to see.

It's always the same. There seems to be three types of keyboard warrior. The first one will lavish praise on you no matter what, and love everything you post, even when things are clearly not right. They're just too nice.

The second will like what you're doing, but less passionately than the first, even though they know that they should be criticising maybe, but they never do.

And the third just goes full on hate mode. A verbal attack like nothing you've ever seen, and yes, some can be quite funny, obviously not for the OP though.

This is why I say you've got to be really thick skinned to post material. The slightest hint of cloudy water, as in WOLF2013 WOLF2013 case, or a tank that looks a bit small for the occupant or insanely overstocked, and you are leaving yourself wide open to an onslaught of verbal abuse.

Thank you! That means a lot. I take excellent care of my fish and all people care about is the looks of my water. I have yet to lose a single fish due to my part in a few years. I do have a few mistakes under my belt I'm not perfect but people still accuse me of being horrible LMAO. I just laugh at it now and tell them off then block them from commenting in the future LMAO. I'm not some rookie or newbie coming on YouTube giving out half truths or google research. Most of the stuff I discuss is from personal experience first hand or through my dad. My entire family has been keeping fish even before I was born.
Yea that remark I made on my video was so funny. It was made out of anger but lots of my friends called me up laughing.

Oh I know you know your stuff you used to be on pangea aquatics forum (no shutdown) back when you lived in Springfield. Always have good tanks and some nice fish. We all lose fish a time or two due to the unknown it’s impossible to know everything I’ve learned the hobby is filled with learning lessons. I lost a female festae to a male festae. My fault didn’t give her a place to hide that the male couldn’t fit in. We have all made mistakes. That dude giving you crap probably has a 12” Oscar in a 55g

Also love the story of the Niger Cat taking out your dads black piranha. I started laughing because I could picture the reaction he must have had.

Wow. That feels like a while ago pangea aquatics but there were a lot of good people there. I don't miss Springfield or Massachusetts though mainly because of the cold weather and the fish hobby was going down there. If you walked into the fish store all you saw was mostly saltwater and bread and butter freshwater with hardly any monsters. I hated having to order the simpliest monster fish online like silver arowanas, jardinis or even black bar silver dollars. It wasn't until the year I decided to move to Florida that an oddball monster fish shop opened up called Imperial Aquatics.
Yea.... my dad was super pissed. I had to buy him a new piranha and it was not cheap considering I had to get a ride 2 hours into Rhode Island just to get it lol.

This is why I avoid FB, Instagram & similar platforms. Looks like you are running a side business so just ignore the morons. Too many idiots and everyone has an opinion even when they have no idea what they are taking about. Fish tanks do not need to be "pristine" as long as water parameters are good. Also located in FL and deal with Imperial Tropicals; they are great people. I used to reside in RI same issues as Mass. Left 22 years ago, best move I ever made.

I here ya!It’s currently 19 degrees here, not a fan. You guys are lucky you moved to some good weather. Yeah the must have cost a bit buying a new black piranha but the story was priceless. I follow you on LinkedIn (James Allen) and YouTube (gumbe1985) always enjoy the videos.

yeah the stores have faded up here and a lot of it is way over priced. Unless you go to uncle Ned’s in Millis or Jays Aquatics in Salem NH. Zoo Creatures in plaistow is starting to turn around only focusing on freshwater which is nice. Recently bought a 6 in Managuense they found out back in there massive sump with a bunch of other fish. My female Cuban is trying to spawn with him haha he’s not interested.

imperial is awesome I got my Cubans,Red Tiger motas and ortnatus from them. Also aquaticarts.com check them out I’m waiting on a group of 9 albino threadfin acara and 9 geo redhead topajos.

I’m building a fish room in my basement, goal is to have three 12 foot long double deck racks. Already have a pair of topaz cichlids spawning, also trying to grow out my Cuban male for the female, also have a nice pair of green terrors, another goal is to get a pair of red tiger motas from my group andhope my ornatus pair off. Also have a two separate groups of festae I’d like to form a pair off. I’m lucky the stores up here are will to buy any fry at an inch to 2 inches for 2-5$ a fish maybe more depending on the species so it’s a goal to support my hobby addiction.

Side project in my 180g is my male jag trying to cross it with my female red dovii and their fry Take a female and breed her with a different male jag or red tiger mota male. Would love to get a fish that has a lot of red with the jag and mota barring and white/red.

The multiple tank syndrome wasn’t enough during the pandemic lockdown I gave myself a project and built a pond I wish I didn’t live in New England I’d make a bigger one and throw a pair of something in there and let them breed.
Also threw a picture of my old festae pair. The male killed her because I’m my dumbass didn’t give her a cave only she could fit in. I wanted to harpon that friggin male when I walk in from work and saw her stomach ripped open.
When I was a beginner in the hobby I had a snowball pleco and when and bought a Walmart tiger Oscar within 30 minutes I look over and he had the pleco halfway in his mouth. Needless to say it died.

It is about 78 degrees here today. Spring is quickly coming! :)
Those red terrors (festae) are gorgeous. Your ponds look amazing!
I would love to interview you on my channel. I think it would be a fun show. Thank you for supporting me man. I appreciate it. I wish I was still in New England I would love to meet you in person and chat fish.

I’d be up for that sometime. I don’t have a web cam I’d have to do it all on my phone. No problem at all. If I’m ever down in Florida we will meet up.
