700 gallon Fish Stocking Ideas

4 meters x 2.11 meters seems like a good footprint to me.
You might consider a giant school of neons for something else. Nice contrast to the big fish and they're so small compared to the big fish that they're unlikely to be seen as food.
Such a big school could get expensive, and might dwindle eventually. I do like the idea though.

Dwindling depends on the size of the big fish, they're best purchased when the big fish are full grown (which certainly won't take long) and therefore least likely to view them as worth chasing after.

You may be right on cost though.

Sunfish would be a really cool option for a pond. Lots of cool species out there.

Wouldn't the sunfish get eaten by the peacock bass and shovelnose?

Good point - I was thinking the op meant them as the focus of the pond.
Smaller sunfish are definitely on the menu for a big cat or p-bass. Larger ones may or may not work out.

If FishGuy97 leaves out the peacock bass, shovelnose, knifefish, and neons in favor of sunfish, I don't see why it wouldn't work. And as you said, they're especially good for a pond.

if i were to build a pond it would not require a heater. an open top tank with that much volume would be insanely expensive to heat.

I'd do natives only

Lepisosteus Lepisosteus you're probably right haha
