So I have about 13/14 pea puffers in my 55gal. Now I’ve heard from some I have to deworm, some say I don’t, some say it’s optional, and some have said they never even heard of deworming but have kept peapuffers… so do I have to? And if so can I use general cure? Some say I could some say I can’t. Some say it’s only for external parasites. So any advice is greatly appreciated. (Photos for fun)

Do you know if they are wc or tank bred?
WC I'd definitely deworm using para cleanse. You can use general cure first to make sure everything else is ok then the next week hit them with a 5 day treatment of para cleanse.
Mine were tank bred so I didn't bother.

I’m not sure bc I’m new to puffers but I’ll ask the lfs .

Puffers are pretty susceptible to internal parasites.
I’d hit the tank with fritz expel-p (levamisole hcl) or para cleanse like suggested.

Levamisole works better for me. different meds target different types of parasites. You can treat the food. But that won’t take care of any eggs that the parasites passed into the water column that may hatch later. Levamisole is usually dosed 2 weeks apart for this reason. General Cure is a couple days apart. Depends on what you’re tying to treat

Para cleanse and generalCure are the same exact ingredients so I just got the general cure . Can I just treat their food you think? Or should I treat the entire tank
You are correct. I'm not sure why I said that.....I meant to say expel-p which is levamisole.
Add either directly to tank. After a certain time frame(48-72hrs) do water change making sure to gravel vac to remove any shed worms/eggs. If you do general cure one week and expel-p the next week you should be good after that. It's been a while since I've needed to do this but I think you need to retreat with a levamisole product after a couple weeks. I know they both treat a range of parasites and they overlap a bit. I used both on my schoutdeni when I got him that was 6 years ago. I saw him shed worms after both treatments. Bare bottom 29g made it easy.

Idk what I’m trying to treat I hope I’m treating nothing. Everyone is just saying I should treat pea puffers for parasites ??
