im renovating my 60 gallon for a pair/wet pet of somehing with alot of color and personality on the larger end. doesnt have to be a cichlid for the wet pet

Some of the medium sized puffers are good for a wet pet.
Cichlids are really the best for color - convicts and relatives are best for a small wet pet.

Agree with the above, a 60 gal is a bit too small for most cichlids.
South American dwarfs, or those Central Americans of the genus Amatitlania, are about the only ones I would trust in that size tank, but...there are plenty of that ilk to choose from though.
Amatitlanias like

A nanoluteus above, or "Honduran Red points, below would be good choices

Some of the Gymnogeophagines from southern South America, would also work.

I know these aren't what is normally thought of as wet pets, but...
In a small tank like a 60, one needs to often be careful, to have success.
And any of the above could be housed with a shoal of geographically correct dither fish to help them be comfortable, and show true colors.
