3g tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok. I would say 2-3. Scape like a marshy puddle. Think about where you get attacked by leeches, but more tropical
I think I have a good scape made up in my head. A muddy substrate with a bunch of wood to make it look like a bunch of dead fallen trees in the water, maybe even start an army of duckweed lol

Only 2-3? A few years ago me and a friend wanted to play with leaches and actually I got covered in then almost head to toe with nearly 2 dozen leaches on me, it was such a weird but cool experience, it was like the scene from stand by me but in real life.

I was under the impression that tiger leaches were big and thicker compared to your average leech.

3 gallons you are looking at the smallest labyrinth fish or neocardina.
Saltwater is quite hard and you’d need expensive equipment if you wanted to do corals.
Honestly , that’s a myth, saltwater can be very easy and not expensive. Especially in a 3g. Just get a Chinese reef light on eBay, about 2lbs of cured live rock and something for flow and just get some cheap dirty water corals and a reef safe CUC and you’re good. I could do all that for around $50. You can even buy 5 gallons of RODI for around $8

Would you still need to do water changes? Sorry i’m Hopeless at saltwater. If it really is that easy, I might consider doing it myself.

As long as your live rock is established and cured, it is that easy. The LR is your filter and cycles the tank instantly. The only catch is there will be die off on the rock in transport, so I would wait a couple weeks before adding any inverts. I would do biweekly water changes of around 20-30% for inverts only. Personally, I wouldn’t add any fish in a 3g. You could also do Xenia or green star polyps. But they will take over in no time, so you’ll have to do some grooming with those. Also make sure the LR you get doesn’t have any aptasia, that is nearly impossible to get rid of. I also recommend buying premixed RODI from your LFS for this size tank instead of mixing

Nice. How big of a water change would you recommend? I would probably bump it up to a 5g if I did it. Would Dragonets fair well in a tank that size?
