Need info on them. Got 2 of them yesterday. One tried to eat pellets today I don’t know if he did or no. Do they accept pellets? How long do they take to grow?

My old group of hujetas took floating pellets, tubifex and cut up fish. They have to be cut and shaped to fit their mouths. That’s what i did. Probably fed feeders hence it’s not eating. Would give it time. Slow growers. Haven’t seen any grow past 8-10in.

All of the ones I've owned took to pellets rather quickly so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Agreed with others. They are easy to pellet train and the smaller floating food sticks from Hikari work well. They are peaceful and easy to care for.

my hujeta gar will only eat shrimp because they are predator fish

Mine eat like pigs. Must be doing something wrong somewhere.

Also shrimp contain a lot of thiaminase. It's not wise to feed it as a staple.
