Where should i buy a Goonch catfish from

Rutilus and suchus seem understandable to me. I am ignorant of the differences and places of origin (hence required temps) of B. bagarius, B. lica, sp. indochina, and LLG. Also, is yarelli = HLG? or can it be both HLG and LLG? Or has yarelli been retired and replaced with lica? I need to reread Chicx's stickie thread, if it is up to date on all this.

If I get it right, DC1970 would like to get another lica, in addition to the lica and suchus you have, right?

Several years ago I almost decided to buy my first goonch from Wesley and we talked, he asked about how warm our water gets, I told him 85F-88F for half a year or more. He advised against getting any goonch (or the goonch he currently had for sale? probably yarelli, although I can forget). So I have never been willing to roll this dice yet.

B.bagarius (HLG) comes from regions in India where the water is cool to cold
B.Yarrelli (LLG) comes from regions of India through Thailand where waters are warm to very warm
Unfortunately (in my view) the relabelling of certain Goonch has completely messed up the species.
Removing yarelli and lumping both sp. Indochina and yarrelli together as Lica has screwed it all up since the sp. Indochina and yarrelli are significantly different.
The old naming convention works fine if you just consider sp. Indochina to be B.lica.

The op owns a (now named) B.lica and wants a true B. Yarrelli

Yeah i think you should get a lica which are most commonly sold as yarelli now adays but in my opinion there not that hard to keep just dont move them alot and theyll be happy but yeah i have a suchus and a lica currently but I’m now looking for a rutilus because yarelli and bagarius are almost impossible to find

Only if I let the Jelly go. No room for two monsters...although a Goonch would need no supplemental heat and would save me a fortune on electricity....
