This is one of the problems with buying from LFSs, as opposed to well respected and legitimate breeders.
You end up with hybrids, brought in by local amateur breeders, that really don't know what they have bred.
Just because you buy something listed as this or that from a LFS doesn't mean that's what it is.
And it may not be malicious, or intentional. If a local breeder tells them its a carpintus, that may be what they think it is, but the realityis without tracing back to catch location such Lago Chairel of Escondido, it could be some aquarium strain Herichthys that has been crossed for generations.
Same ...if you walk in and see what's listed as Paratilapia bleakeri, or Vieja this or that, chances are barely 50% it is what its listed as, maybe less in these days of random amateurs crossing this with that, or the other, because they think its cool to create a hybrid mutt.
For those of us that want to maintain species legitimacy, its a nightmare.
