As title mentions, I recently upgraded to a 90 gallon tank and I’m looking for some new monsters. I’ve taken interest in the Koliba and understand it’s one of the smaller lower jaw specimens, how long would it take for a 4” to outgrow a 90 gallon? Would I have time before another upgrade?

Personal experience with wild caught koloton/koliba. They grow quite slow, and don't seem to get very big. Biggest one I've seen someone import them was probably 20"-22". I think most people who have owned Koloton/koliba will agree with me about their slow growth. I've had mine for about 2 years in a decently large tank and it's only grown half an inch. (16" to 16.5"). My fish is a pig too.

I don't expect the captive bred form to get big either. Haven't seen a captive bred one larger than 15" yet. Depending on your tank dimensions, it is possible you might not have to upgrade. But you definitely have time.

thank you for your detailed response! I’ve decided that a Koliba will be my next addition to the monster tank, along with likely a teugelsi. Tank dimensions are 48x18x24, Sounds like I have at least a year or two before I need to contemplate an upgrade.
