Is 75 degrees enough to keep a green and gold severum healthy and thriving? I recently got back into the hobby and the tank is located in a basement that is around 63-65 degrees during winter months.
Thanks. I am using a heater but do not want to spend 20-25 dollars a month just to heat this single tank...I have my eyes open for a used 120 gallon 5 foot tank for the basement too.
Putting sheets of styrofoam on the back, the sides and bottom will help heat from escaping.I usually also kept one for the front I could hook on cold nights, or especially during power outages.

Since I (at the time) I had 20 tanks, it was hard to judge, some more heated than others, depending on species..
My fish room energy bill (on a separate line) in Dec, Jan and Feb, into march, averaged about $400 per month, even with the styrofoam panels, and included pumps, heat, and lights on half the tanks.
