Asian Tankmates for Black Shark

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you can get hold of the harlequin shark, a much more manageable option. Starts a mottled brown and black colour and maxes out at around 16” by which point full black colour with purple iridescent patch on every scale. Same character and temperament as the black shark, just a more manageable size. You will seem mine knocking about in the video/clips in the above thread.
Bumblebee cats are a good fish for 6x2 and a potential breeding project if you get siamensis (Asian bumblebee) .
sexable with males topping out at 6” and females reaching 9”. Fairly nocturnal but always out to feed in fleeting glimpses with plenty of rockwork. Mine mix well with leopard bushfish, filament barbs and synodontis.

Would have been to start 6x2.5x2.5 but after my research and your opinions I think perhaps this idea is just one for the ‘nah’ pile!
Natives!!!! Either Rainbow tank or eel tailed catfish species (obbes, hyrtls, rendhals)

Never seen harlequin sharks here before. Asian bumblebees are what are available here.

Allfish2u? I got my guys from there. You'll probably want some more, SUPER skittish in small numbers.

I got it from my local fish store but maybe they got it from there? I think I might grab maybe 2 more.

Hi everyone, probably won’t happen but maybe?

I have a South American tank with Kelberi and plecos
I have an Australian tank with a few of the cool things we get here (I’m an Aussie)

I was thinking about maybe doing an Asian tank for my next project. As I can’t get my hands on a red tailed giant gourami I was thinking about making the ‘big guy’ in the tank a black shark

I was wondering if through the absolute wealth of experience in this forum (it’s quickly become my main go-to for research) people could suggest or share their experience/s with other Asian fish that may be compatible.

I’d love clown loaches but it didn’t take long to see that that idea is a very big no-go.

tin foils, maybe an Asian bumblebee catfish?
Anyway any help or discussion for discussions sake would be appreciated!
I never kept black sharks, but a friend did and it was peaceful towards any small fish and wanted to murder anything larger

i was surfing on YouTube and I’d seen small ones before in my local shops but I stumbled across a video of a fully grown one and I was amazed with how stunning they get.
I’ve canned the idea now though, but I still think they’re amazing.
