I'm thinking of putting a flowerhorn in my 210. It's currently empty.

Would a vieja work with a flowerhorn? Severums, parrots, Parrot convicts? Thread fin? Oscar?
Looking for mates to give life and color

Flowerhorns are pretty famous for not doing well with other cichlids. I definitely wouldn’t try it.
If you want a community setup for American cichlids, it’s best to pick a few medium sized guys (6-8 inches) that all look different and fill different roles so as to reduce competition. Adding dithers helps to add life and keep the cichlids comfortable. Make sure that the fish come from similar water parameters.

So... Zero tank mates for a flowerhorn in a 210 gallon?

72×24×26

At the risk of sounding crass, have you ever seen a flowerhorn in a community tank setting? I have, but it was a 600g w/ a ton of exclusively male highly aggressive fish and there were so many of them that aggression was generally spread out among the crowd. The feed bill must have been killer.

I tried integrating a flowerhorn into one of my tanks and wound up getting rid of it. I can tell you roughly how it worked for me. The flowerhorn I had was not yet full grown so it wasn't a complete cornhole but was showing signs that it would not play well w/ others at some future point. As you know these fish are prone to constipation and a few other somewhat uncommon issues that you normally don't need to be concerned w/ among fish. In w/ a bunch of other fish that were aggressive but not aggressive enough, the oddly named fireman's dream would hang out wherever I dumped food in and that fish would scare off the others and eat everything. Zero chance of limiting intake to stave off digestive issues and if you didn't feed often enough it would get pretty cranky.

...and it wasn't even all that big.

This is a pic of it as a baby and I had 11 smaller midas cichlids in the tank at the same time; they were a problem, too. Even as babies the midas would gang up on anything else I introduced to the tank and immediately begin to kill the new fish.

The short version is that it can be done but you should expect that there will be carnage in the tank and that will be normal.

Not to sound like that picky old fart but I'm guessing that's an older tank that you may have picked up 2nd hand(?)

The dimensions are a little unusual as a 210g is normally closer to 72/24/30.

I may be wrong on my dimensions. I know for sure it's 72X24

I just put a brand new top on it today. It had been in storage for over a year. Prior to storage it was nearly brand new. I bought it and used it for a few months.

I'm back in it now and I missed my tanks!
