Oscar necrotic tissue… help please?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If it's improving then give it the time to mend.

All medications are poisionous and stressful on fish - just a reminder.

thanks. For that exact reason I did a 33% water change today to get some meds out and back to clean water. I did some water tests and everything is spot on. Nitrates at 5.

Honestly, I don’t know if it’s improving or not. The bacteria seems to have been killed off. But the tissue that’s sloughing off is a LOT. Extensive damage to left side of his face and jaw (right side is 100% normal- it’s weird how localized the damage is). He flared his mouth wide open today and I saw that his left “cheek” area is totally open. It’s awful.

And yet he’s swimming around and being interactive. He didn’t eat today though (he ate quite a bit yesterday).

I’ll give it some more time. He’s being mellow but I don’t see stress right now- not hiding or laying down or breathing hard.

Anyway, as always, thanks for any advice or ideas.
