Are we talking about the stick or about that herpetic lesion looking thing toward the top of the frame? Does the stick move?

Looks like some sort of macroalgae, unless of course it can move on its own.

I see the head of a dragon, facing left, with his left eye looking directly at the camera. Also a shark, a little winged Pegasus, a seductive naked woman and a birthday cake.

This is a Rorschach Test, right?

Sounds like the deep psychological issues common in lifelong aquarium addicts.
No need to wonder why the medical establishment feels the need to lull and hypmotize us in their office with tanks.

Lol, lulled and hypnotized...my preferred and natural state...:)

I am not crazy because I keep fish...I keep fish because I am crazy. :)

Lol the stick looking thing, I’m thinking maybe a tube worm or something similar. It just popped up outta nowhere
It doesn’t move that I noticed, but I’m wondering if it’s going to retract into the rock

I'd bet a nickel that that's a strip of caulk that one of the fish yanked off. It appears to be covered in the same algae looking stuff that's growing on other surfaces which would make it less likely to be alive. I might give that bad boy a tap with a net just to do Ron Reagan's trust but verify thing.

It’s definitely not caulk or silicone, it’s coming out of a tiny hole in the rock. Until I know what it is, I don’t want to mess with it and risk spreading spores in case it’s a nasty
