Adopted my friends 4 year old Male convict

Hello, I had a friend who was selling his tank and had one male convict left around 5 inches and is actually really nice for a convict lol anyways I added him to my 180 with my datnoid and blood parrot and he’s doing pretty well adapting , here’s a pic

Yeah when I saw him I was impressed also never seen a nuchal like that in person on a convict

So just an update, he has some sort of white spot/pimple developing on his forehead and above one of his eyes and I’m wondering if anyone has seen this before, I know it’s not ich I’m thinking maybe a fungus? My friend didnt take care of him very well the last 6 months so maybe that caused it

p.s. the mark on his nuchal hump is a scratch from a decoration

Maybe a fungus but you said your friend didn’t take good care of him so if it was in a high nitrate environment it may be columnaris which is deadly without treatment but it’s too early to tell yet but I’m not 100% sure

Columnaris starts as a ( I think) white area that turns into red lesions I’m not sure

Yeah I did a quick search on it and if it is columnaris it’s in the early stages still, only thing is it seems to eefct the hill area more than anything and he seems to be fine there for now but I guess we’ll have to wait and see, I’m going to add some salt for now and see how it goes

Well he’s in good hands now. Keep that water quality high (extra WC’s or larger ones). And keep us Amatitlania nerds updated lol.
