Too much for a 40 Breeder?

Nice tank man.
100% can up the stock agree with Hybridfish7 Hybridfish7 on that with more tetras.
In my experience laetacara can be pricks to each other.
Any cichlid would really be aggressive when they breed.
Have you concidered peacock Gudeons? Peaceful, colourful and only really slightly defensive if the male is one eggs.
Could try curviceps or fulvipinnis if you can find them. I don't remember which one exactly he had, but I had a friend with a pair in a tank with cardinals. They even spawned, with no harm done to the cardinals. He was British, so I don't know the exact size or dimensions of the tank, but I know it was something equivalent to our 20s.

The bigger ones do definitely get violent on eachother though. Again I don't recall exactly which one it was... either thayeri or araguiae that is exceptionally aggressive for the genus. Whichever one it is I don't recommend it, lol. I myself have been trying to make space for dorsigera.

I still stand by the Bolivian rams though if anything. If you're willing to go outside of a biotope, which I'm assuming you are given your original inquiry about kribs, you can do anomalochromis. Those are pretty peaceful (and prolific).

Yeah I've only had experience with Dorsiegra and araguiae. Araguiae are total d*cks constantly fighting.

Think I would look to a pair of apistogramma rather than the kribs personally. Something like a pair of agassizi fire red to bring colour and interest. They seem to hide less than the kribs do even when the kribs are not breeding.
Also less issues over rearing young as with kribs it’s quite easy to end up with all female or all male populations depending on water parameters.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I actually ended up going with a platinum parrot for my ‘centerpiece fish’. Just waiting on the LFS to get the corys, and will get about 6 of those. Still think I can add more of the tetra Hybridfish7 Hybridfish7 ?

May need to up the filtration with the Parrot they can get 6 to 9 inches and are messy. They can also be aggressive.

Thank you for the advice. The ‘platinum parrot’ though is actually just a short body leucistic convict/hrp. It shouldn’t get bigger than a couple inches.

Agreed - I wouldn’t expect a male to be more than 4 inches long.
