Snakehead is sick. Don’t know what disease.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry for
Unfortunately I woke up this morning and the fish died. Thanks for all the help I recieved I will still do bigger water changes because I don’t want other fish to have it.
Sorry for your loss, my guess is that it was an infected injury caused by dirty water; my recommendation for this to not happen again is to increase water changes to either 50x2 per week or 90% per week and keep an eye on parameters, sorry for your loss

Sorry for your loss. Always hard to take when one of our fish dies.
Thanks yes it’s always very sad especially when something could have been done about it. But I will take the tips in consideration so it won’t happen again

hi
i highly doubt water changes would help

channa gachua is from hot humid areas of southern asia...from swamps and little ponds mostly and they do very well in even sub par water quality
most snakeheads hate water changes and prolonged stress and constant change in water conditions can rather make your fish suseptible to illness
personally i have a 10inch channa argus platinum in a 50gallon with some hornwart
and it went overtwo months without water changes....
same with other species that i have had (auranti, puncata, striata, marulius)

as far as the injury goes.... you may have gotten an infected fish
i have had rescued many many snakeheads from food markets where they get roughed up real bad
and they still do fine

snakeheads often catch fungal /bacterial infections during shipping and that may have been the case
