Will this support a 40-60 gal tank?

It’s pretty high quality a thick wood. It’s an about 5-10 years old MAX. It has a wooden piece going through the open part. And if you don’t think it will work, what do you think I could do to make it work . I think it should be fine but please tell me your opinion

No way to say for sure, but from things I’ve done in the past id say probably. But do you feel comfortable with a probably knowing what happens if it collapses? I’d just spend money on a stand or cinder blocks.

I’m not an engineer or a carpenter, so I don’t want to make suggestions for someone else although there’s things I would do for myself, but if you can get some cinder blocks and plywood, that’s a very easy, cheap and sturdy stand

Sorry, I misread where you said you can’t fit a stand. I guess if the wood is solid, you could do a weight test if you can put some objects on top weighing 300-400lbs

It's not simply if it can hold the weight. It's the continuous stress of holding the weight hour after hour day after day for years. Tank stands are designed to do just this.

If you have doubts then don’t do it, you will always have a worry in the back of your mind and will be on edge every time you hear a creak.
It looks sturdy but constant weight and water spillages might wear it down over time. Could you replace this with a stand with built in storage instead if you don’t have enough space For both?

Not worth it, IMO. Plus those drawers will likely deform some over time and not close/align properly even if the stand can hold the weight. You'd also need to seal it to protect against water spills (clear polyurethane). If those handles are metal they will get dull and rust long term unless you seal as well. Think "Is this really water resistant?" Still don't like that storage gap that would be under the tank either without knowing load capacity. Would cause uneven weight distribution. You're looking at around 500lbs.
