I have a 40g breeder and am looking for stand ideas. Anyone have any cheap, strong ideas? I wonder if I could buy a cheaper desk or something and use it. Also I can’t build one. And it can’t look like crap because it’s a show tank, thanks!

Also anyone have any filter ideas. Thinking about a sinus canister filter. I wanted to do a small dump but it was to complicated. I want to have more than enough filtration. Currently have a tetra whisper (45g) but it sucks even on my 16gal

Cheapest is cinder blocks, you can make them look nice but real stands for a 40b aren’t that much to begin with, so why not just get a real stand?
For a filter, just get an AC 50 or 70 and you’re more than good on a 40b

I'd go with concrete blocks and 2x4s. You can put a piece of plastic or fabric on the front to cover it, if you like.

For a filter, you're not going to get much cheaper than an air pump with an air-driven box filter and a sponge filter.

Alternately, if you have a rubbermaid bin and a power head or small pump laying around, you can make a dump or overhead filter.

ok thanks, I’m not able to do another hob filter because my last one leaked and my parents don’t want me to get another one. Do you think i should get a canister filter or a single filter? Or something else

All filters, even sponge filter have the potential to leak. But if you use a good check valve, a sponge might be your safest bet. I’ve flooded my house with a canister before( an eel pushed the return hose out while I was away. So a sponge would be the safest, then a high quality HOB and then a canister IMO
