Hey y'all! I plan on going to the fish store today (unless plans change, but I don't think they will), and I'm thinking about getting a few rams, so my question is above: Can you mix different types of ram cichlids together?

By types do you mean the two species (ramirezi and altispinosus) or do you mean color varieties (gold, electric blue, black, etc.)?
If it’s the former, I don’t recommend it. M. altispinosus like slightly cooler water than ramirezi. If it’s the latter then yes, because all color morphs on the market are the same species, M. ramirezi.

I didn't get rams but I was meaning like mixing Bolivian rams with German Blue etc.
It’s a personal choice. I’ve done it before but I felt the Bolivians did better in cooler water in their own space.
