My vieja is 4 inches. At what size can I determine sex or is there a way to determine now?

Is there a certain size to vent them or they pretty much like Malawi cichlids and can be vented at 3inches and bigger?

Vieja in general are notoriously difficult to sex accurately but typically 3-4" is when I would even begin to attempt.

Is it easier to snatch the fish up and vent? I can do it during my next water change and it'll be easier to grab. Im definitely thinking female due to the shape of the head being more a torpedo shape and rounded fins.
