ID on pike cichlid? Approx 5 inches. Was sold as just pike cichlid at LFS

Looks like Lugubria johanna. I am guessing the horizontal blotch on the caudal doesn't show well in the photo as that is usually a defining characteristic for them.

Could be. I don’t remember Johanna having gold lines on the body.

There is no noticeable blotch or anything on its fins

L. johanna can appear very different from one another. They are one of the most widespread cichlid in South America and can look different depending on where they are from. Certain juveniles can certainly have those lines, although I’ve never seen an adult retain it.

This is what a horizontal blotch should look like on the caudal fin. The fish in the photo is L. johanna and the blotch should at least be faint and become more visible later on.
