Day before yesterday he was fine but i dont know what has happened to him he keeps glass surfing and is gray. I did a water change today but he is still doing the same thing.
I am new to this website but can anyone help me on what to do? His backstory is that he used to be in his old tank for around 1 and a half year, we then got him a new tank as he has grown a lot, and we've transferred him back and forth due to the same problem any suggestions , please? the first pic is his old tank and the second pic is him now.

Can you post your water parameters? How often do you do water changes? How much water did you change out? What are you feeding? Hard to say…could be ……poor water quality….infection…it swallowed substrate. Hopefully a water test kit may help and all you need.

I do water changes every week, 100% water changes, and i feed him shrimp, do you think i should buy the api water test kit?

And how can i check for infection

Provide your RTC with some hiding spots/places too, a place where it can retreat to and feel safe. RTC are non turnal, meaning are active at night times. Continuous light with no place to hide could be stressing it out.

Yes. Test and post the results. I’d try to avoid 100% water changes as it can disrupt your BB. Also use a pellet and avoid constant shrimp use.

Usually pics of the fish can help. Don’t think its an infection.

Thank you also so much, will do this.

2yo RTC normally should be 2.5ft. Your RTC seems badly undersized.

Agree with above - water and diet are the culprits. If all it has been eating for 2 years was shrimp, I'd assume it's a miracle that it is still alive today because shrimp is poor in many essential nutrients and also high in the deadly thiaminase.
