Hello, I got a red dragon Flowerhorn in July about 1.5 inch and seemed to be doing well anyways flash froward 5 months he or she is only 2.5 inches and hasn’t grown in about 2 months, he or she eats everyday lives in a 40 gallon all alone where I keep the heat at about 80 , just wondering what’s going on ? I’ve treated for parasites a couple times but it’s such a mystery to me because Flowerhorns usually triple in size the first few months

Maybe you could try a higher protein diet.

How is your water changes?
I did fin level changes every three days and got great results. Try increasing size and frequency of water changes and see if that helps.

Weekly water changes of about 30-40%

I would up your water changes in amount and frequency.
In the wild a fish spends but a few seconds in water before it's carried downstream. That would be near impossible for us to replicate. Save diverting a stream thru our fish room. So we need to do what we can to make sure we keep it as clean as possible. Doing 75-80% water changes every three days kept my nitrates below 5. This got me a 12in Oscar, 10in Amphilophus in a years time, both from 1.5in fry.

I have one the exact same way. Thought it was sick just never grew at all. Turns out it may be a female, mate.

edit: Try mirror training it a few times a day too
