Hey guys, I recently took in a endlicheri bichir that my friend gave to me (could not take care of it anymore) and I was wondering what tank size they need. He is currently in my 75 as my 6 foot tank flooded my basement. Would a 4x2x2 be adequate for life with my oscar and senegal bichir. Thanks in advance for the info 😊

4x2x2 could be done. Depends on if it’s cb or wc. You’d have to make sure the Oscar’s let him get to the food. I’d say he won’t last long in a 75. My endli has gone from 5 inches to almost a foot now in only 4 months now.

The endlicheri Bichir I got is 2 inches bigger than my oscar. I'm not really sure how to tell cb or wc apart I will try to post some pics. Since I live in Canada I'm probably gonna upgrade my tank around July or August. When do the growth on this species slow down?

I think op meant endli is in a 75 right now but wants to move him to a 4x2x2? If you post some pics of the endli Hao Hao and Caveden Caveden could identify if wc or cb. How long is he right now? How big are the Senegal and Oscar?

Senegal is 6 inches and the oscars is 7.5 inches

Not the best photo but I'd guess its possibly a wild caught. If your stock in the 120 is going to be just a few inhabitants. I think the endlicheri will be fine. Regardless of whether its wild or captive, generally in endlicheri grown out in captivity from young will max out around 18"-22" (generally wild caught will reach the upper limit of those sizes). Ideally a slightly longer tank would be nice when its 18"+ but I'd say it would do fine. For the most part, bichirs don't really swim around much. As for how long you have before moving out of the 75g, that's hard to say. Growth rate will vary with individual and depending on the care provided.
