Philosophers are just failed scientists; unlike actual scientists, though, they are unable to actually prove or disprove their own theories...which are, after all, merely opinions ...so they can continue to endlessly debate the relative merits of their proclamations vs. those of their competitors. The really good ones manage to continue these essentially unwinnable debates long after they are dead. It's a gift...

Haven't been online recently to see this response and "defend" myself. Most certainly it was intended as sarcasm on my part. "Because we can", in my opinion, is about the worst reason to plunge ahead into new, especially technology, territory. That goes for AI, manipulating the weather, introducing a new non-native species to control another invasive species, and countless other ways that humankind attempts to conform the natural world to its liking or whim.

I am all for people keeping what they want, but when I order fish for stores I will do my part and not order anything that i know will not have a good quality of life.
