What exactly are monster fishes?

I think it also depends on how big it is in relation to its relatives.
Something like a marbled goby or fahaka is something I would lump with the monsters. They only cap at about 12 inches, but they are much larger than other commonly kept gobies or puffers, respectively.
Then there’s things like exodons. They are tiny, but as much a monster as a pacu.

Nice, I also have an albino giant gourami. A black eyed one, I haven't named him/her yet. I'm planning on getting a red eyed one and a red tailed giant gourami.
awesome just watch it because the pink giant gourami are famously aggressive. I raised Charlie in isolation to avoid any aggression issues. I had one growing up in the 90s that killed everything lol

A stipulation I will add. If it bites the hand that feeds/cares for it habitat, it is a qualified Monster.
Case in point my Amphilophus saggitae even at just eight inches had the balls to attack me several times. He was just three generations removed from wild so that may be why he was so aggressive.
