So I have a quick question, I absolutely know the size that alligator gars can get too. My buddy had a tank problem it cracked dumped water everywhere and needs to move fish. He has a 20 inch alligator gar. If I were to take him in, until I can find a permanent home. How long realistically can he be ok in a 8x3x3?

Current occupance are 3 P bass, large ray, black aro and Florida gar.

IME… some grow quicker than others… seen them posted on here 4’ in the first 2 years with very heavy feeding. Most seem to hover around 30”-36” for a number of years. If ud like a 30” blimp tank buster in ur 8’x3’ itell most likely be more than fine for at least 5 yrs. All depends how much u want to max out ur space.

Ok, thanks for the reply brother. I'm hoping too find him a permanent home way before 5 years lol it shouldn't be too hard but ide rather take him then he have to give him away too someone who doesn't understand what these guys are actually capable of.

I had a few that stopped growing around 26-28”. Prob didnt feed them enough in my earlier yrs of hoarding fish lol… but not every 1 will just blow right up and become unmanageable quickly. Ull prob b more than fine for a long while. 💀🤙
