So , I'm new to this whole Flowerhorn thing . They've definitely peaked my interest and I've decided to finally own one . My local stores have a bunch of hybrid fry that really have no lineage or backstory and although that's fine and dandy I've always enjoyed keeping conversational pieces so I came across this SRM female Flowerhorn .. I don't really know anything about them except this fish is freaking expensive lol .. I was kinda hoping you guys could fill me in on basic care and water parameters these fish like ?? What foods do they enjoy ? I'm aware they're classified as omnivore , But i see special foods specifically designed for this particular fish and was wondering what kind of foods you guys feed your Flowerhorns ? I managed to snap a pic wondered if someone could help me point out what kind of quality she is . I was told she's 5 months ... shes got some black on her top fin and I was wondering if that could be black spot or maybe just her normal coloration ? Basically I wanted to come here to pick your brains in any information you could give me , maybe help me determine the quality of this specific fish , she cost me alot of money and I basically just want to make sure im not being taken to the cleaners being new to these 😂 Appreciate it guys !

Hi, can I check where do you come from? It looks like a high quality srm. But female flowerhorn will not really grow a nuchal hump
I got the female exactly for that same reason . My girlfriend hates the Koks the only way I was getting away with owning this species was if I intentionally got a female so the hump wouldnt be so pronounced 😂

I see. Then should be fine. But is this photo taken by you? If it’s from the seller, the colour may not be true to eyes. Need to be careful on this

just to be share, I got a SRM from Vietnam transhipper. It is a lot lighter in colour as compared to the one he shared in video. So will have to manage your expectation accordingly. Currently I’m still trying to nurse it back to its best colour at the moment

I dont know much about buying flowerhorns but i was aware some sellers use special lighting . In this picture I guess to me the light looked normal . This is the sellers video . Should I be worried about that ?

I think you have to ask for video without lights. Also, when they ship, the fish colour will change tremendously to be very light pink instead of such intense red
