The Use of Probiotics in Aquaculture

Looking for basic dosing info for RidX. I used to use this years ago and have forgotten the dosage. I currently have tanks from 33 to a heavily stocked 125 and was wondering how much RidX vs water. I believe you let it sit a couple hours before putting in the liquid?
I remember my tetras loved the soup, alas I don't have tetras any longer but I am sure the angels, severum, wolf fish eels, gudgeons, cory, crassipinnis, plecos, and the miscellany will love it as well. I just don't want to over/under dose, though I am sure underdosing is prefered.

I just cleaned one of the FX6 on the 125 and was reminded on why I loved RidX so much. I will be tackling the FX4 and am sure it will be a slimetastic mess as well with all of the pleco mulm.

RD. RD. RE the Bio-Clean, how is the dosing on that?

I put mine in a 100 micron filter sock in the sump. 1 scoop per 50 gallon once a week. Although I have stopped recently as my planted tank has no nitrates and I have to dose now.

Anyone tried thie NLS probiotic formula yet? Just saw it and am curious to other opinions on it.

It's just expensive septico

I guess that counts as an opinion, but it's not really. This is probiotic in the fish food, so your dosing every time you feed, a slow steady dose to the system.

OK, but why would you do that? It's not the fish that need dosed....

I think you are missing the point here..... This is about bacteria for your canister/filter/sump..... This is for increasing the efficiency of your filter....probiotic in the fish food is a different conversation.....

Maybe start a new thread if you want to talk about feeding your fish probiotic? (personally I think it's a massive waste of time since the fish digestive tract is is not way near long enough for bacteria to establish)

Directly from their website-"Probiotix works in three ways to improve your fish’s health: improved nutrients by your fish, cleaner phosphorus-reduced waste, and cleaner water as the probiotic-laden waste gets into the filters."

I asked here because I think it is relevant There are members on here more familiar than me with probiotics in the aquarium, and with fish food formulas and digestion. Perhaps I should have outlined my interest more fully to meet your requirements for this thread.

-Does anyone think this is as effective as dosing the water directly?
-Could this be more beneficial due to the frequent smaller dose instead of periodic larger dose?
-Could this be a better option than Rid-x as the medium used is fish food instead of some inert starch?
-Could this be less effective because of the percentage of probiotic that may not make it through the fishes digestive system?
