My little alligator snapping turtle about 8th months old the hole where his yolk sack once was is near close to completely closing up. I got him from John Richards out in Missouri. The king of snapping turtles. His animals are such good quality never thought I’d be able to own one of these things, but he helped me through the process and my animal arrived in perfect condition over 500 mile trip to me the stuff John does for these animals is amazing. He saved countless ancient alligator snapping turtles from the meat trade in Louisiana some 30-40 years ago ! Hebrought them back to Missouri not knowing if they would survive the conditions there but they did and now he produces over 6000 alligator snapping turtles every year and has introduced them into the mainstream pet trade and keeping the population plentiful he’s created a safe haven for turtles that not too long ago people just thought of as a easy meal to catch I would 100% recommend him if anyone is wanting to add one of these to their collection if anyone else has one share your experience with them and pics as well I’d wanna make sure I give this guy the best care

I’m not exactly sure how hard they are to get depending on what state you’re in. They are technically not allowed where I live, I never thought I would legally be able to own one, but I was wrong I was able to find a way around it and get the proper papers on the turtle and copies of breeders permit where it came from to be able to have it sent to me if u ever get one lmk and I can send you his info I dealt with his son mostly
