I have never owned African cichlids.Can you recommend a good species for a beginner.In the past I have always leaned towards centrals thanks in advanced
What size tank do you have available for a group of african cichlids mate?
Would you like to try your hand at breeding some mouth brooders or just have a colorful display? This will help us provide some fishy recommendations

I am gonna dedicate my 125 gallon to my first African project sorry for not providing that information.

125g is a good size for most African cichlids
More questions;
- do you want an all male display or a breeding group?
- which lake, Malawi, Tanganyika or Victoria?
If you were interested in tropheus I’d be willing to trade you some juvies for some of your carpintis juvies, but tropheus are really considered beginner African cichlids

Here’s my all male Malawi display from a few years ago lots of color & movement. These types of displays are about finding the right balance of fish temperaments.Now I feel like I need to do more research
A word of advice, avoid most mbuna species, especially the zebra family. Meanest fish on the continent! Ha!
