Rescued this guy 2 weeks ago at local store in a small tank , fins ripped and looking like previous owner definitely kept him with other piranhas. Healing nice, finally ate but still a little skittish. Around 9-10 with nice dark color and red eyes coming out. Not sure what type of Rhom he is, so any help works.

I know it's a Black Rhom but don't know the location it was collected from. Great save with pristine water conditions it should heal nicely. The Serrasalmus Rhombeus is a single specie but there are species that look similar.

They also may give the rhombeus different names from where they were collected.

While I've never been a huge piranha fan if I was to get one it would be a black. Nice save hopefully you get years of enjoyment out of him.

How big is it. Juvenile has spots on the body than disappear in adult. It is the the largest piranha with strongest bite force, and typically kept solitary. Here is a juvenile I caught in Rio Nigro near Manau.
