A while back when I first got this fish, I made a post about him getting severe ammonia burns and cloudy eyes and finrot. This is due to the fact that I not knowing about algae blooms, let it continue without realizing that it was caused by ammonia. He went through a lot and yet it’s still here and that is just prove to how lucky I am with this specimen. going on 22 weeks. Here he is!image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg he started off around 4 inches and is now at around 7 to 8 inches. I hope the photos aren’t too bad it’s really hard to get good photos of him since he barely ever stops moving.

Foods? Feeding?
I'm very curious :)
That’s the thing I’ve been very lucky during the first month or so. I fed him about three to four times a day, because I go to school still I had to figure out a schedule where I could feed enough. I fed him blood worms and really that’s it. He doesn’t seem to like anything other than them, and he seems to do very well on them. And the same time he was a very, very good eater and he’s never really stopped eating, and since I know that they like to move around a lot and I wanted to let him get food for a little bit longer and take a little bit longer. I would leave the blood worm cubes floating so he could pick at it while it’s defrosting. that way he gets as much of it as he can before it all spreads out on the ground. And then the bichir gets it when it’s on the ground. Right now he is holding weight very well. And as such I am only feeding him twice a day one in the morning and one at night but I’m feeding him about 4 blood worm cubes per feeding and when I was growing out my tarpon in that tank as well I was feeding around 6 to 8 blood worm cubes per feeding. I think I was just very lucky with the one that I chose because when I went back to the store, the guy at the store said that he tried to bring the others home and throw them out but they all died in multiple different ways.

I have an Afrowana too, I feed mine 4 to 5 times a day. I’m retired 😎
I feed frozen/thawed blood worms, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp. Then next feeding is flake food. Then a few rounds of sinking carnivore and algae pellets. I think the trick is lots of small feedings. This fish is always moving and sucking up gravel and spitting it out.

Yeah thankfully he is holding weight on a 2 times a day feeding schedule. Having to work his feeding schedule around school doesn’t help. But he is a pretty stable eater and is holding weight well
