I would snatch him up for sure. I don’t typically rehome fish as once they’re here it’s for the long haul. So to get a fish you’re interested in at that size seems like a no brainer.

Easy choice, IMHO. Mind you, I'd consider it an easy choice even if the current owner of the AUL made it a condition of the transaction that you fillet, batter and deep-fry the Mobas before he'd let you have the AUL. 
But, sure, okay, let's do the comparison thing if we must:
AUL pros: It's an AUL, fercryingoutloud....
AUL cons: It's big, and will get bigger. The fact that it starts out so big is IMHO the only possible negative about this whole idea; raising big fish up from little fish is one of my favourite parts of the hobby.
Moba pros: Very classy, very striking cichlids.
Moba cons: They're still cichlids. Meh.
Of course, you don't have to choose. You get to have both species. Why is this even a discussion?

Agreed, I never said that though. I would create a display community of other cool fish together w the AULI would love to have a colony of Moba!! I would never commit a large tank to a single fish.

dont really see any cons with an AUL besides the possible price tag or the size of their terds lol. There the most “community friendly” and thats saying alot when it comes to lung fish. There pretty personable, thats always fun IMO. Cant beat a “water dog”… plus it can have a large erray of friends. Whats better than that? … Alot of my favorite and most personable window licking water friends had to be kept alone so that leads to big and empty tanks. Im not certain but i dont think they can cut/maim ur fingers either like an african so hand feeding is in…
