HI I need help here is this a platinum florida gar something else? looking for advise i am just not sure at this point. i have 3 aligator gars but this one's mouth looks a bit long also what is this patter is this low grade platinum, colour injected or something else?

That is a platinum Florida gar. When they get older their spots normally disappear or they keep them. When they’re stressed their spots normally pop back up. I lost one a couple months ago. :( RIP Garlic

What are these gar I saw at the LFS? Any tips on how to choose one?
Longnose gars. As for how to choose one, it'll come down to preference. Pick something that doesn't have any defect and something you actually like.

Look for fish without visible damage: a straight back, clean fins without breaks, active behavior. The gar should hold itself confidently in the water, not lie on the bottom and not hang at a strange angle. Also pay attention to its appetite - if possible, watch how it is fed. Healthy fish usually react to food. And, of course, choose the one that you really like, because with such species it is more than just maintenance - it is a long-term story.
