Is this some kind of butterfly koi or something else

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah it looked rough. It was 8 bucks, I may just go pick him up and try and get him back to health and eventually get him into my buddies koi pond
I can’t know for sure but that fish gives off the vibe that it’s got a mycobacterium infection. I’d personally avoid it

I cannot for the life of me understand the logic behind purposely buying a weakened, unhealthy fish, or even taking it for free. Every time we bring home a new fish, we run the risk of introducing some disease or pathogen into our tanks. Fish like this increase that risk substantially.

I'd not even buy any other fish from the same tank as this one. Frankly, if I saw more than one or two looking like this, I'd be ultracautious about buying anything from the same store.

My friend it wouldnt be going into a tank with other fish.. they are called quarantine tanks now you've been here for a long time and i KNOW you no that so the kind of ignorance in that post is wild that I would wanna try and save a fish from death but everyone has their opinions it is what it is. It makes the world go round

I would have no way of knowing from your earlier post where you stand on the issue of quarantine; that is indeed the correct definition of the term "ignorance", i.e. not being aware of some particular piece of data or information. You could easily have been one of the many, many posters who seem to think it's a waste of time, or that they are somehow immune to the risk if it's ignored.

Your use of the phrase "kind of ignorance" implies that you mean it as some sort of insult. That's okay; I was expressing an old-fashioned opinion dating back to the days when it was considered to be basic common sense that one should choose the healthiest, best specimens for one's aquarium. Were you ignorant of that? It's been mostly in recent years that we see people going out of their way to pick out near-dead fish so that they can "rescue" them.

Funny how you chose this fish based at least partially upon the fact that it was only 8 bucks. How much higher could the price go before virtue-signalling is abandoned?

Differences of opinion don't make the world go round; it does that on its own. Fortunately, it's big enough to accommodate all those differences. Have a nice day! :)

Very correct..I did not specify so you are 100% correct my friend. I also have to agree with you that there is a lot of users on this site that do just through fish together that shouldn't be and harm the existing fish so I also agree with you there. My apologies for coming off like an "ass" that ones on me. You had every right to assume from my very broad first post. No harm no foul.
As for the price I had no intention of getting it, I was just curious on what it was, then for the price I might as well just try to give it a good life no?
