I agree with balas being pretty plant friendly. Also yes a Tank with a group of large Balas is a sight. I current have 4 with the smallest being 7 inches and the largest 10 inches.

I also keep balas in a planted tank - the only plant they've ever messed with for me is they like to much on the leaves of Amazon sword. Everything else they've never bothered.
I don't mind them munching the swords anyways tbh - they grow so fast its not a problem.
