There are parasitic isopods, these guys arent one, they're just deep-water scavengers. I could never keep one in my home for fear that it would crawl out at night and eat me for all the torture I inflicted on pill bugs as a kid.

Its good that you are giving them frozen food, it stimulates the feeding response. You should get them on a good pellet and as stated above, feed them twice per day. Unless it is sick or has a parasite, it should fatten up, but considering the growth rate of young fish, they need plenty of food.

The Toba Aquarium in Japan has been keeping 2 giant Isopods in captivity. In 2009, one of the isopods stopped eating, and on Feb 14 of this year it finally died. Totally incredible that any animal could go that long without eating anything. You can read the story here...
