What type of algae is taking over my tank?

Ok. I’m still a newb to live aquarium plants so any help is appreciated. I’ve changed my timer to be on for 9 hours, I’ve done a large water change, and i also read about using hydrogen peroxide to control algae. I dosed 3 ml/gallon (60 ml) earlier today with no ill effects to the stock so I’ll...

What type of algae is taking over my tank?

Here’s one of the dwarf mud crabs. They’re the perfect size for a nano tank and I’ve never seen them attack anything, shrimp, crays, or one another. They find a little hiding spot in any nook or cranny they can fit. I originally was looking for micro crabs and came across these guys.

    Help: Moving convicts

Ok. I ended up moving the paired fish into a 20 long, moving some fry I’m growing out into the 30, and moving the 3 unpaired fish into my 90 community tank. Eveyone seems to be doin ok so I’ll wait to see if the pair spawns again.

    Help: Moving convicts

Hello Everyone, I have a 30 gallon with 5 small convict/blood parrot hybrids. I have 2 definite males and 2 definite females. Unsure about the last. A pair formed almost immediately and set up a territory on one side of the tank. They laid eggs but they ate them within a couple of days. They...

Yea, I don’t mind him at all. Even with his deformity. He’s not bad looking and I’m waiting to see what his personality will be.

How to Induce Central Americans to Breed

Ok, great. I’ll try that on my other tanks along with more patience. Lol. One of my female blood parrots finally laid today but paired with another blood parrot. I’m expecting these eggs to turn white and be eaten but at least I know she’ll lay. After these eggs are removed I may remove the male...

Short body Texas with Crooked Body

Yea, I think you’re right about the him being a hybrid. He looks pretty much identical to all the pictures I see of Texas/Flowerhorn hybrids. He’s still pretty shy but I’m sure he’ll warm up with time.

Ok. Whoo!!! That’s reassuring. I was pretty nervous. I’ll take the deformity over the illness any day.

Short body Texas with Crooked Body

I found this guy in a tank at a LFS. He was in there with some african cichlids and a couple of blood parrots. He has slightly frayed fins but I wrote that off to the africans he was housed with. The blood parrots’ fins were in the same condition. I’ve had him for a couple days and he is...

How to Induce Central Americans to Breed

Great looking fish. Sry to hear about the death. I was considering gettin a group of young bp and growing them out. I really would like to have a larger array of colors. I’ve only seen pics of yellow parrots but I would love to own one. I found a “panda parrot” at one of my lfs that I was...

How to Induce Central Americans to Breed

Nice. I love frontosas. I had one a couple years back but am too impatient with their slow growth rate. I’m currently growing out a handful of babies that i kept from a convict courtship a few months back. But I’ve learned that convicts will breed as long as there’s water. Lol. The other...

How to Induce Central Americans to Breed

I’m under the impression that most male bp are sterile but females can reproduce successfully with other cichlids. I’m trying to get to the egg laying stage to try it. From what I’ve read/seen the females lay eggs regularly.

How to Induce Central Americans to Breed

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some tips/tricks from more experienced breeders of centrals. I have blood parrots and a few other CA cichlids that I’m interested in breeding. What types of setups do you use for breeding pairs? What changes, if any, do you make to the tank or types of food? If you...

    Help Venting New BPs

I picked these 2 cuties up at a lfs today. I’m 95% sure the first is female. On The second one, I’m leaning towards female but it may be wishful thinking. What do you think? FIRST BP SECOND BP
