    the tiger parrot is called that because the mouth structure is completely different than the metynnis group of fish, including fasciatus. here is an example of a 5" specimen in my tank. and I have fasciatus also in the same tank for comparison. They're not closely related at all

    yeah when these grow big they are green and have pink shoulders. i have some that are about 4.5" now. but they are definitly no m. fasciatus.

    neither are temensis, depending on where you bought them from. its possible that they're hybrids from asia. Melaniae or pinima x with temensis
