Bay Snook Red eating their eggs

This is true. The farms that used to produce them in big numbers had to move on to raise other things that paid better. It is hard raising a fish that gets that big and lives that long. After a few years everyone who wanted one has one. 4 years after they move on to produce something else...

Bay Snook Red eating their eggs

First of all, congrats. You got the hardest part done. As for how to proceed it depends on what you want and how desperate you are for fry now. If the experience of watching them raise fry is important, I would think they will figure it out in a few tries. Every time I spawn something new, I am...

    "Golden sun silver arowana"

I am glad you said that. I have seen some very yellow or orange albino silvers. I keep wondering if they are just fed a ton of astaxanthin and fade out without it. They are beautiful. I would hate to pay a lot for it to turn into a normal albino. I would be tempted to take the very orange ones...

Law paper arguing for legalization of Asian Aro

Please write the paper but understand that logic is not winning out on this request. The fact that practically none of the Asian arowanas in the trade are wild caught will not make a difference. There is discussion about ESA listing Russian sturgeon. This will require farms to harvest all of...

    Identify please

Yes, regani stay small 3-4". It could be a belly crawler. It is small and stressed so hard to say. If it is regani the ventral portion will be a smoother gray and the bars will only be on the dorsal portion of the fish once it settles in. With the spot on the operculum, you might be right. It...

    Identify please

Not a great pic and it seems super stressed but I'm guessing regani with the spot. They are awesome if that's what it is.

Good dither fish for a 180 gallon

I think you have a lot of options in a 180. BA tetras, roseline sharks, Colombian tetras, giant danios, large rosy barbs could probably work out well. With the smaller fish I would go with large schools. You might have a few get eaten, but it should work out overall.

    Does anyone keep mudskippers.

I kept them years ago. I believe they were sold as Indian. I had a lot less fish knowledge than I do now, and they did very well. I am amazed at how easy they were. They were so much fun to watch hop around and roll over. I gave them crickets as a treat, and they would pounce on them. They ate...

    clarias catfish with bichir?

I was trying to think why this couldn't work, but I think @Fishman Dave hit it. They are eating machines. Large bichirs might adapt and start feeding aggressively. I new a guy who saw that when he added halibut to his zebra sharks. However, I think you are going to watch the bichirs waste away...

    FISH FOR POND

That is going to be tough. I would say build the pond with a greenhouse over it and put a data logger in it through the winter and one outside the greenhouse. This will give you the ambient-water differential. If you can't make it work don't lose hope. You just have to do what all of us have...

    FISH FOR POND

The real question is how cold does it get where you live? I don't know the weather where you are. You might want to run the pond through the winter and put a data logger in. This will tell you what is realistic. In Florida many tropical fish are farmed in dirt ponds. They are between...

    FISH FOR POND

I think it is going to depend on how well fed the RTC is and how big the pond is, as to whether or not you can make big barbs work. I don't see the specs on the pond so some of these may be bad advice for your situation. I think a nice shoal of tinfoil barbs would probably be able to work given...

    Pulling Fry

It depends on what they spawn on. If they are laying eggs on something easily removable, I pull the eggs. Throw an airstone on them and hit them with MB. Otherwise, I would siphon wigglers. It really depends on what your goals are. If you are maximizing production the sooner, you pull the eggs...

FL wants to whitelist fish and destroy aquarium trade

As for Predatory Fins the rumor is that is exactly why they moved. I have no connection to them so I cannot confirm. It is one thing to say there was plenty of notice to move, but at the same time leaving the area your family has been in for generations is not as easy of a task as it seems...

FL wants to whitelist fish and destroy aquarium trade

I am not saying the goal is to take that land. I think the big goal is to make it look like they are defending the environment and distract the public from the damage their industry causes. At the end of the day local governments will be happiest to see the farms removed. They will be replaced...

FL wants to whitelist fish and destroy aquarium trade

I want to address a lot of things here. First contrary to what @dogofwar said the Florida legislature has no part in the process and the governor does not sign this rule. FWC can do whatever they want. They are appointed by the governor and all of the commissioners are land developers. They made...
