We do. It wasn't the water changes being an issues are they are done very often. It was due to us treating him with lots of meds for what we thought was different kinds of fungus

Here is a pic I just snapped of him. It has taken a week of lots of work,water changes, adding all kinds of good bacteria that stinks to high heaven.....ugggg but here he is.

Just wanted to post an update. It was AMONIA burn!!!! It has taken my all week but he is back to his brilliabt orange self. Not a speck of black on it. Must have been the perfect storm when I was treating him for fungus the week before.

Also this fish is already about 8-9ish inches long so I have no idea on age, but with my very limited knowledge isn't it close to full grown? So do they still change after that? I really appreciate everyone's input!

So even though its happening in a few hours time its just a color change? I am totallly fine with it I just wanted to make sure I shouldn't be doing something different for him. I actually think he looks kind of cute with his "black lipstick" I am brand new to all these fish and just keep seeing...

Ok now this morning his fins are turning black and his lips seem darker. This is so weird.

That makes me feel a little better. We have only had him for a few weeks. He was dumped at petco for eating an oscar. He got sick right away and I have been working so hard to get him looking better. It freaked me out when I came home and saw him like this.

He is In a tank alone with nothing but gravel. I haven't seen him hit anything in it. But that would make sense like a bruise almost.

I have read hat they can turn black but in a few hours time? Just wondering if I am missing something?!?

what is going on with my fish? When I went to work this morning his lips were orange and now they are black?!?!? He has recently been treated for ick but then realized he had a fungus sonwe treated for that about a week and a half ago. He has been and still seems active. What is going on?!?!

He is in a 55 gallon by himself.

I have a tester kit just never opened it. We are t home much right now due to a time crunch at work but will try tonight if I don't get home too late. Tank has been up and going for months with a different fish in it. Just a regular top of the tank double filter is what I use. When I do water...

I am brand new to all this and I do have a ph testing kit I haven't done it yet. But might be able to later today. So far just upped the temp and did 1 tsp salt to every 5 gallons yesterday

I have only had this fish for a little over a week. He was fine when I brought him home and put in a tank that I have removed a other healthy fish from. I have no clue what is going on with him.

he has deteriorated quickly. tofay I noticed he has a chunk out of his fin (he is alone in the tank) and he has white fuzzy stuff on his face and tail. Also over his eyes. Please help.
