Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii aka dorado catfish, 4"

Haven't been on here in ages but great to see a good sized one in captivity. I can confirm that the higher dissolved o2 would likely be preferred given a lot of their natural habitat is in rapids during their annual migration which should have high o2. I've caught them in slower moving rivers...

    The big guy

YAAAAASSSSSSSS! Glad to finally see this beast, what an incredible specimen man! No joke one that size would pack some serious voltage and would hurt quite a lot or knock you out completely. Even at 12" their discharge is enough if it decided to hit you with full power where it will make your...

    Bratchy Id ?! Very unusual

The real question is why do I not follow them already?! Lol They've got a vid up too of that fish and lots of other quality monsterfish related content Nice looking cat for sure and one of the most unique variants I've seen, I concur with the Juruense ID though and not a hybrid

    5 most beautiful pikes 12"+

Where is the home range for these/which river systems? I've been out of the Crenicichla game for a while but might plan a fishing trip to target them if I can't get one for the aquarium EDIT: Nevermind looks like Rio Suia Micu near Matto Grosso, Brazil

Couple of pics of my atabo II

I would agree my Atabapo I female was showing decent red at 7-8" and by 12" was solid reddish pink versus Atabapo II at 7" show almost zero red, only really seems to come out when they start to get over 10-11" and even then in the captive specimens I've seen isn't nearly as vivid as the wild...

    Finally Jau!

Damn that is a small one! I had one about 3" and I'd just prepare yourself for it to bully everything else in the tank, they are absolute monsters! Mine beat up other catfish twice it's size and had to be put in a tank by itself.

    5 most beautiful pikes 12"+

I tried for literal years to source one of these and no one could seem to find them, to date I've not seen any in captivity and that is one of only about 4 pictures of them online. 1) Crenicichla Rosemariae 2) Crenicichla Atabapo sp 3) Crenicichla Zebrina 4) Crenicichla Tigrina 5) Crenicichla...

Couple of pics of my atabo II

Atabapo II* Any better pics? How big is it currently? I've always waited for someone to post pics of mature Atabapo II that have really colored up because for the longest time these were considered the most red of the Atabapo pikes but to date I don't think I've seen any nearly as vibrant as...

    Biggest rtc I’ve seen.

Paul and his team are awesome, he pretty much runs the sportfishing game in Suriname and all outside agencies book through him as far as I know. If it's the trip I think you'll be at the lodge camp then tent camping for the last few days. I'd really like to see some pictures of the lodge camp...

Who with if you don't mind my asking? Andree's? 3H? Paul? Was this to Wonotobo or if not what area? You supplying tackle or the guide supplying? If you need recommendations let me know otherwise you can get most things from Tomahawk fishing shop in Paramaribo after you arrive. Everyone does...

    Biggest rtc I’ve seen.

They've got them to that size near Wonotobo Falls if you saw the detail in my Suriname fishing thread. I was planning to go this year also but now that trip has moved to Sept 2020 for me. Still trying to figure out my destination for this year either Pintado in Argentina or Vundu in Tanzania.

    Biggest rtc I’ve seen.

That's def a big one but not quite as big as it seems. He's sitting indian style and the fish is a couple feet in front of him. Still 100+ lb for sure. Suriname/Guyana hold them to world record sizes I've seen pics of a few over 120lbs, that one has the fattest belly of any I've seen but doesn't...

    Filamentosum Or capapretum? ID

Just going to throw this out there, there are other possibilities besides just Suriname and Peru as well since Brachyplatystoma Filamentosum can be from Brazil and Guyana as well although I've not heard of any being imported from Guyana yet. Price is usually a good indicator as mentioned if...
