    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

galabar, if you can find any place where I called someone a loser for having a difference of opinion than I did, feel free to show me. The same goes with me saying I have more tank building experience in my little finger. Glad you want to be a supporter. My stacked lumber method works as...

Cure time is actually 7-14 days. Full adhesion 21, so that's what you must be referring to.

Nope, no sanding with Dow 795 and Permadri. Both are rubber. As you might know, Dow 795 doesn't cure the same method as regular silicone. There's virtually no smell to it at all. You don't have to do anything between coats other than give it a little time to tack up (couple hours or so)...

Ozkar this may be an obvious question and answer, but did you sand the Pond Shield where you applied the silicone?

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

Dow 795 bonds very well to Permadri in my experience. I'm considering pulling off the 2x6 frame from behind the window in order to make sheathing the front wall easier. I don't really like the way it partially impairs the view into the tank. I think it will look cleaner and remove all the...

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

Plan 1) Sheath the front wall around the window (not the part that jogs around the house support beams) with 1/4 sanded plywood. 2) Sheathing will be glued with Liquid Nails in place. We can use drywall screws to secure it. 3) Coat the new sheathing with Max ACR epoxy resin and fiberglass...

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

Funny, he says the wife is fine... http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?494841-Divorce-sale-EVERYTHING-must-go-Pick-up-Ankeny-Iowa ------- I'm not taking the window out. That's completely unnecessary. My initial thought was to sheath over the Permadri with 1/4" plywood...

My new 2600 gallon plywood tank project

Oh, I thought he went with the ones like John did on his stingray tank. Yeah, a guy on Bayou Reef Keepers suggested going with one made by a reliable company like Ecoxotic. It might be worth the extra money to get something with a warranty and that lasts.

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

When I added the 2x6 frame, I took care of one leak, but opened up another. Had I been able to pinpoint it, yes Dow 795 (a type of silicone) would have been able to seal it. The leak should be able to be resolved with more Permadri, but as of the last test, I was out of it. There wasn't any...

My new 2600 gallon plywood tank project

Tank looks great!!! Good to know about the LEDs as I was planning on getting those as well. I found these http://www.ebay.com/itm/271033327306#ht_500wt_1414 that might work. They are essential 250 watt metal halides in LED form. How much coverage per 1.5 gallons of Max ACR did you get? Do...

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

I don't know what problems you're referring to that the tank had before I met my wife. The only issue the tank has ever had other than the leak was the 2" cell cast acrylic window arriving at 50" x 99" instead of 48" x 96" that I ordered. How's the wife? ------- Anyone know the coverage...

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

To fishbum, galabar, etc. Your life must have so little meaning that you have to write such posts on a forum to tear down someone else's project, life, etc. The funny thing is, I still have a 4300 gallon tank in my house that I can finish. What do you have? I venture to say nothing...

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

Umm, the tank will never be torn down and scrapped, and as far as pro goes, VL's current tank is my design, as is John's two tanks other than the floor. Never have heard of Diesel Mack. If you read the thread you'll see that I only have about 6-8 weeks of actual work in the tank. Sure, that's...

Thanks for the encouragement. It means a lot when I login and find posts like these! We've been in the state of delirium for the past three weeks with the lack of sleep and trying to get the baby on a schedule of some sort. I go back to work in a week, so that's not going to be fun at all.

Next step on the big tank is to remove the drywall from the front wall so that I might be able to see where the leak is coming from.

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

18 days or less until the baby gets here, so I've been working on things around the house to get ready. I told Ken that the only thing I could see that might be an issue is when the acrylic was first set in. He wasn't here as another set of eyes and I would have liked to have put Dow 795 on...

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

If I had to do it over and it was available at the time I started, I would go with Max ACR hands down. Lay fiberglass mat, or at the very least mix in loose fiberglass, in the corners with the Max ACR. Colorant is available from the Max ACR people, so there's no need to use Sweetwater paint to...
