    Older BGK

Wow, Blue Butcher..how I would recognize worms or parasites? I will be honest in that I have never seen anything resembling worms or parasites on this GKF . I don't see anythilng except a slim knife fish with an elongated lump on his side and he is so charismtatic. All thoughts appreciated...

Thanks, MeiTnerium109. I read the section on tumors. I don't think he has a virus so I guess he has cancer. Tumors are listed as non-infectious and non-treatable. If in distress, destroy. I am starting to get my head around the thought that he has cancer. I lost my 8 year old...

    BGK problem

Sometimes a change in weather can cause them to retreat. Unreal as it seems, and the fact that their tank temperature doesn't change, the fish seem to know the seasons. It is similar to when you move a tank and change the north/south/east/west direction...the fish reacts by retreating for a...

    The wierdest Craigslist post EVER!!!

I think it is a stupid add that invites inexperienced fish owners to buy a really magnificent fish. Anyone who is considering buying the fish because of the add...is helping to place exceptional and vulnerable beings into the hands of Rambo wanna' be's. These fish are delicate in that their...

    Older BGK

What about the fact that he doesn't seem to care about being in his cave anymore? I know he feels safe and I know he can tell when I come in the room (which is all the time) because he heads directly to the top of the tank...guess he feels the vibration or hears something or sees something with...

    Aging Ghost Knife....

Could folks please check my post under Knife Fish....aging GKF. I am concerned about a lump on my Ghost Knife and I think it might be more generic than I posted. Thanks all....it's been a long time since I posted. I lost my TSN and haven't really been able to talk fish since.

Yes, thanks Hoyo, I think it is possibly a tumor. Maybe I should be asking about fish with tumors. I guess I am trying to determine what happens once a tumor occurs. Is he like a dog that can live with this kind of thing for years or is he on his last legs. My worry, along with the possible...

    Older BGK

I don't know how to do the picture thing. I'm lucky that I managed the avitar when I was more active on the site. I will try to figure it out. The bump has been visible for approximately one month. The other signs I worry about are that his gills seem a bit inflated making his head look a...

    Rescued a TSN!

Lost my TSN last year, but he used to insist on being hand fed. Usually he would gently take the food, but sometimes he would snap it out of my fingers and it didn't hurt although it was always a surprise. It's like small sand papery teeth. Good memories.

    Older BGK

Hi, folks...I haven't been on line for about a year now. Lost a TSN and just couldn't talk fish. The site looks great. I'm in need of some feedback. This is for anyone who has experience with an older BGK. My guy is about 16 years old now, can't remember, and about the same in length. He...

    Introducing... Ben BGK Squarepants

Sorry to take so long to reply. I keep saying that he's about 12" but my significant other says if that's all I see then I'm more blind than the BGK. :( I guess he's about 14". There's a picture of him in the gallery under my avitar. I am not the one who does all the maintenance etc...I am just...

Camphilophus, it looks like you are currently on line. Are you there? Are you saying the TSN didn't make it? Yikes...so sorry.

    TSN getting sucked off!

Hi, TimtheBadAss...your TSN's nose if it was broken is not likely to heal back to what it was. Kinda' like a fighter...once the nose is broken unless you have surgery (which doesn't usually completely fix the look) you can always tell the nose has been broken. Also as a result, he likely has a...

My New BGK and Tankmates :)

Okay...if you look back to 05.01.08...you will see a post on page two by fourty2. fourty2 put a url in there regarding breeding and there is some stuff regarding sexing the fish. I'll try to do the url in this post but no guarantees. :( http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...d.php?t=12310

    6in. Gulper eats 13in.Black Arrowana

You know what T1Karmann...:irked:...we did NOT all see what happened with the lei. Some of us can only tune in now and again and we do our best to learn what we can. It sounds like no matter what you "drag to the bar" as you put it, it won't help you snag a female companion...:(...unless you...

My New BGK and Tankmates :)

...also with females the white stripe is thinner than the male. I have a female; you can see her in my profile. She doesn't really have a stripe at all; ocassionally there is a very faint stripe almost like a row of dots which probably has to do with her spine. She's 16 years of age.
