Thanks, MeiTnerium109. I read the section on tumors. I don't think he has a virus so I guess he has cancer. Tumors are listed as non-infectious and non-treatable. If in distress, destroy.

I am starting to get my head around the thought that he has cancer. I lost my 8 year old Bullmastiff to lung cancer a couple of years ago. Like the GK his appetite was good, but eventually it was difficult for him to breath so he was essentially suffocating and we let him go. I'm not sure what kind of cancer fish get so will do some reading and watch for signs of distress.

Have you thought about worms, parasites. Just a thought. My 20yr old ID shark has had a bump on him his entire life with me, 17 years now. He came with it. It doesn't get bigger or slow him down.

Wow, Blue Butcher..how I would recognize worms or parasites? I will be honest in that I have never seen anything resembling worms or parasites on this GKF . I don't see anythilng except a slim knife fish with an elongated lump on his side and he is so charismtatic. All thoughts appreciated...
